Born in 1965. 
Corresponding Member of the Russian Academy Of Arts. 
Laureate of Silver medal of Artist’s Union of Russia (2007),
Golden medal (2011) and Silver medals on Moscow Artist’s union (2008),
competition “Golden brush” (1993), Frist Reward of Moscow Artist’s union (1997),
Diploma of Art Academy of Russia (1999).
In 2000 Ilya was elected by the “Faces” magazine among important persons of the new millennium.
His works are in museums and collections in Russia and abroad.

Since 1987 Ilya has been participating in exhibitions
and since 1991 has been a member of Artist’s Union of Russia.

 

 

 

In his art Ilya leans towards the experience of ancient Russian wall painting
and the art of the early 19th century.
This combination with artistic freedom allows the Artist to reach the depth and emotions in his works.
Since 1996 he has been working of the project “Russian Portrait”.
He is among those artists who look not only at the appearance,
but reveals the inner world of the person.
This portrait is based on the ancient fresco painting and new abstract art,
where the color expresses the essence of the image.

 

 

“The 20th century was a century of experiments and new opportunities in art.
Visual art lost it being unique.
It was not a crisis but a search for the new meaning.
And I was convinced that art in all times is wholesome.

My trip to Italy was a shock for me when I saw frescos by Bellini, Carpaccio;
I realized that they were real avant-gardists.
They mastered an abstract form and from this point of view I realized what “eternal art” was.
I felt that the future is for figurative art,
but that it would be different than it was in the 20th century -
it would be synthesis.”
